Our sermon focus areas for 2019. Terms 1,2,3,4.
In 2019 we want to know Jesus more in our lives and make Him known to others. As a church our aim this year is to go deeper into the things of the LORD! We want to love Him more, know Him better and make Him known to those around us. During each term, we are going to focus on important topics in order to help us mature in the LORD and fulfil His calling upon us as a congregation.
Hosea 10:12
Sow righteousness for yourselves, reap the fruit of unfailing love, and break up your unplowed ground; for it is time to seek the Lord, until he comes and showers his righteousness on you.
SERIES AND THEMES FOR PREACHING DURING 2019
TERM 1 (1 Feb - 12 April, about 9 Sundays)
INTIMACY WITH GOD - THE TABERNACLE OF DAVID SERIES
In term one we are going to focus on the life and ministry of King David. He lived a lifestyle of worship, prayer, intercession and the prophetic. We are going to explore what worship is and how we can practically live a lifestyle of worship and prayer on a daily basis. In the days of King David, he established a tabernacle that had singers and musicians who ministered to the Lord night and day. This changed the destiny of Israel for the good and the LORD honoured David because of this. If you are trusting the Lord for a breakthrough in your spiritual walk with Him, don’t miss this very interesting and insightful series.
Term 2 (29 April - 5 July, about 9 Sundays)
EMPOWERED FOR MINISTRY - THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
In term two we are going to focus on the Gifts of the Holy Spirit. In addition to the 9 fruits of the Holy Spirit, the Bible also tells us that there are 9 gifts of the Holy Spirit. Each one of these gifts are major power gifts, and they are all direct, supernatural, miraculous manifestations direct from the Holy Spirit Himself. The Gifts of the Spirit are special abilities provided by the Holy Spirit to Christians for the purpose of building up the body of Christ. The list of spiritual gifts in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10 includes wisdom, knowledge, faith, healing, miracles, prophecy, discerning of spirits, speaking in tongues, and interpretation of tongues. Similar lists appear in Ephesians 4:7-13 and Romans 12:3-8. The gifts of the Spirit are simply God enabling believers to do what He has called us to do. Our aim is to help you better understand the Gifts as well as to recognise them in your life.
Term 3 (22 July - 27 Sept, about 9 Sundays)
GO TELL THE WORLD - HOW TO PRACTICALLY SHARE YOUR FAITH WITH OTHERS
In term three we are going to focus on practical ways in which you can share your faith with others. Maybe you’re afraid to share your faith because you don’t know what to say. Or maybe you’re sharing the Gospel but nothing is happening; people aren’t committing their lives to Christ. Are you doing something wrong? So many Christians want to be used by God in making disciples, but they don't know what to do. Are you afraid to share your faith? Are you unsure of how to start a conversation with someone about Jesus? Come and be equipped to live a lifestyle that testifies about God's goodness and wonderful plan of salvation with humanity. Let's bring in the harvest together and experience the joy of seeing people's lives saved and changed by the power of the Gospel.
Term 4 (14 Oct - 13 Dec, about 8 Sundays)
ARE YOU READY? - THE SOON RETURN OF JESUS CHRIST
In term four we are going to focus on the greatest event that will ever take place on planet earth, the return of Christ! The Second Coming is when Jesus Christ will return to earth in fulfilment of His promises and to fulfil the prophecies made about Him. Those who witnessed Christ's ascension into heaven after his death and resurrection heard the angels declare in Acts 1:11, "Men of Galilee…why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven." The Second Coming is the literal return of Jesus Christ to earth as King in power and glory to rule. How should we live in preparation of Christ's return? What are the signs of His coming? How tight should we hold unto this life? We will aim to answer these and many other questions about what the Bible says regarding the return of Jesus Christ.
